Centerboard Gasket: 4.26.06 Besides the spray, up through the centerboard trunk, I didn't know the centerboard gasket was in such rough shape. I'm glad I took the time to mark the metal strips fore/aft & left/right. None of the holes lined up very well, and I think it would have been trouble trying to figure out which strip went where after the new gasket was on.
Here is how it was after the metal strips were removed. Some of the screws were a pain to get out, as the heads were filled with dried marine scum. |

It looks like the gasket had been replaced at least once in the past. I'm guessing it was seal with something like 3M 5200. It was a pain to get out. What was even worse, was that masking tape had been placed down, and it had all adhered into a mess. I used and X-acto knife to get it all off. |

The belly with the old gasket completely off. |

cut the gasket to size, and
mark where the opening would be. I used 3M 4200 on the trunk first, and taped the gasket over the opening. I went ahead and replaced the metal strips also.
